Volkswagen has placed a stop order on several of its prevalent 2014 models, including the Jetta, Passat, Beetle and Beetle Convertible equipped with a 1.8 liter turbocharged engine and an automatic transmission. A defect was found in these vehicles with the O-ring linking the transmission oil cooler to the transmission. The defective O-ring could lead to leaking fluid and could potentially cause a fire. Toyota will issue five separate recalls that affect over 6 million vehicles to correct problems in 27 Toyota models, including the RAV4, Corolla, Matrix, Viz, Yaris, Highlander, Tacoma and Camry. Faults were also found in the Pontiac Vibe and the Subaru Trezia which were manufactured by Toyota. General Motors will recall almost 500,000 trucks and large Sport Utility Vehicles to fix a potential oil leak. The recall includes over 490,000 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups, and 2015 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL SUVs equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Lemon aid for PCs gone sour

The ubiquitous personal computer industry is not immune from the lemon law. Despite daily technological advancements with PC’s, tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices, consumers still face a risk of buying a defective machine. Five percent of desktop PCs sold since 1996 were dead on arrival--totally inoperable when buyers set them up--according to a survey of more than 54,000 Consumer Reports readers last spring. DETROIT (AP) - Honda says it's recalling nearly 53,000 Acura TL sedans in the U.S. to fix a problem with power steering hoses.

The hoses can deteriorate over time and leak fluid. That can cause the cars to lose power steering or even cause a fire.

The sedans are from the 2007 and 2008 model years. Honda says there have been no reported crashes, injuries or fires related to the problem.

Honda Motor Co. recalled 273,000 TLs in in 2008 for a similar problem. They were from the 2004 through 2008 model years.

May 15, 2012 - Chrysler has recalled 67,872 Jeep Wranglers due to a fire risk. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (“NHTSA”), 2010 Jeep Wranglers equipped with automatic transmissions may collect debris between a transmission plate and the catalytic converter, causing a fire. Dealers will replace the skid plate free of charge with a skid bar that will not trap debris.
